The road sequence was checked in Google Maps on 4 October 2026. Architectural references include the Soong Ching Ling Memorial Residence, Shanghai Tourism’s 2022 western Huaihai guide, the local records office’s library study, and the 2021 housing bureau record of Huaihai Building. Each building story links to its historical source.

AI-generated aerial illustrations, made in October 2026 from references spanning different years. They reveal gardens beyond public street views and are not a complete, current façade survey. Ordinary shop fronts, people and traffic are illustrative. Source photographs are research references rather than a published photo collection.

The northern and middle chapters draw on Google Maps road-map observations and photographs published by Shanghai Xuhui, Xinmin, Shanghai Library researchers and the Shanghai housing bureau. References include the garden façade of No. 2, the street entrance of No. 63, the documented green-tile restoration of Lane 40, and the 2024 account of the three Hunan junction apartments. Read the apartment restoration account. The ordinary residential fabric is interpreted; these are not a single-date street survey or a complete record of every façade.

The southern block uses Google Maps satellite and road-map observations, the 2025 southern-junction contributed panorama, the Xuhui housing bureau’s account of the Mansion and annex, and Shanghai’s architectural guide for Nos. 390 and 393. The satellite capture date was not displayed. Sources span different years; shops, people and small background details are not a current street record.
